Keeping a cat well in the Maltese climate
Water matters more than you think
Cats here drink too little and kidney trouble is common. A wide bowl away from the food, or a fountain, and some wet food in the day helps a lot.
Summer hairballs
Cats moult heavily from April onwards. A brush a few times a week and a hairball paste saves the carpet and the vet visit.
Rooftop safety
Most Maltese cats use the roof. Net the open gaps, keep the water bowl shaded up there, and microchip details up to date.
Feeding a colony
Dry food in the shade keeps best outdoors; wet food spoils within the hour in summer. Ask us about bulk bags for colony feeders.
